DIVERSIFIED MALAYSIA

Malaysia is one of my favorite country to visit. Having visited the country for three times already (in 2011, 2012 and 2016), I still look forward to returning to this haven. With its tourism tagline, Truly Asia , Malaysia offers a diverse cultural tourism and one that best describes the Asian lifestyle - simplicity. I was able to immerse myself easily in their conservative culture and appreciate the country's simple living and friendly people. I even became friends and still have constant communication with those I met during my visit. A Muslim majority country, Malaysia is one of the safest country to visit in Southeast Asia.   You can reach the country's capital, Kuala Lumpur , after a three  and a half hour travel by plane from Manila. From the airport, tourists can transport to the city proper via train link, a bus or airport taxis. My first two visits were training assignments I accepted in Universiti...

Exploring Yogyakarta

I got a very short visit to Indonesia last August 2018 but I make the most out of my three-day trip in this country. It was an unplanned visit because I decided to buy my ticket a day before my flight. Thanks to Cebu Pacific, a Philippine low-cost airline for offering affordable plane ticket. Thanks also to my niece, Melody, who was based in Jakarta that time, for offering me free accommodation and for agreeing to be my travel buddy to Yogyakarta. I took that one and only Cebupacific evening flight to Jakarta from Manila and arrived at Soekarno Hatta International Airport past ten pm. I immediately queued for the Blue Bird taxi after passing the immigration. Queue was very long as Blue Bird taxi is the most popular taxi line in Jakarta. I waited for 30 minutes before I got my service taxi. At Borubodur Temple Jakarta  served as my transit to Yogyakarta since there is no direct flight there from Manila. I have not done so much on my first da...

Vibrant Taiwan

Me and my friends made a visit to Taiwan last July 2018 availing of a 4D/3N promo package offered by my colleague and former professor, Ma'am Mary Jane, who is also the owner of DreamCT Travel and Tours. A group of twenty persons flew to Taipei evening of July 28. At Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall Taipei At Chang Kai Shek Memorial Hall in Taipei We arrived past midnight in Taipei and checked in to  BackPackers Inn . Inexpensive hotels or backpackers inn aren't bad at all. Just make sure you have read reviews of these accommodations before booking your reservation. I recommend Backpackers Inn Taipei to all backpackers out there who are planning to visit Taiwan.  at the lobby of Backpackers Inn Our first two days were both DIY travel and it was difficult to manage a group of twenty people with different age groups. We then decided to divide our group into two. Taipei has three converging trains all linked u...

A Taste of Sri Lanka

This tropical country which old name is Ceylon, is famous for its ancient city ruins, temples, caves, national parks and beaches.  Our group's unplanned travel to Sri Lanka made us experienced an incredibly cool adventure. The scorching July 2017 was probably one of Sri Lanka’s hottest temperatures, but it did not lessen our joy of exploring the country’s world heritage sites and ancient ruins. We took a promo package offered by Air Arabia, flew 8 in the evening from Muscat, Oman on June 14, arrived Sharjah (UAE) by 9pm for transfer to Colombo flight  at 9:40pm. The flight, however, was delayed for two hours. We were boarded by 11:30 pm and flew for four hours. Sri Lanka is one and a half hour advanced of UAE/Oman time. We reached Bandaranaike International Airport 5am the next day (June 15). The free transfer from airport to our accommodation was not properly coordinated by Air Arabia to the car company. After doing some calls and learni...

A Glimpse of Jericho

My visit to Jericho city in the state of Palestine is a side-trip of our Jordan-Israel tour. A one-day visit to the city allowed us to have a glimpse of its wonders – its nature and its friendly people. The city has comparatively hotter temperature than Jerusalem. we left Jerusalem early morning of January 4 and reached Jericho city early noon. I remembered many of us removing our winter jackets as change in the temperature was clearly felt upon reaching the city.Jericho is considered one of the oldest cities in the world, probably the oldest. This city is the lowest place on earth at 1300 feet below the sea level. Situated few kilometers away from Jerusalem, it is one of the most popular destinations in Palestine because this is where you can find the Mount of Temptation. (The biblical Mount of Temptation is said to be the mountain where Jesus was tempted by the devil – Matthew 4:8). At the foot of Mt. temptation is a cable car bringing visit...

A day in Colmar and Strasbourg

My visit to Strasbourg and Colmar in France was a side trip of my Switzerland tour. My friend Norie and I took the first trip to Strasbourg by train from Basel SBB station. Since the train will pass by Colmar first, we decided to stop there and explore it for half day.  From Gare De Colmar Railway station, we walked to  Place dela Cathedral , the center of Colmar town. We easily found the  St. Martin Eglise Cathedral,  a Roman Catholic church of Gothic style and one of the main landmarks in Colmar. The old church has an amazing architecture. The church is surrounded by cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops, hotels and the town's colorful houses.  Wandering the streets of this old town and seeing the colorful French villages was one of the best things to do here. We reached  Little Venice,  one of the nicest place to visit in Colmar. The colorful houses of this neighborhood are lined at both sides of th...
