A day in Colmar and Strasbourg

My visit to Strasbourg and Colmar in France was a side trip of my Switzerland tour.
My friend Norie and I took the first trip to Strasbourg by train from Basel SBB station. Since the train will pass by Colmar first, we decided to stop there and explore it for half day.
From Gare De Colmar Railway station, we walked to Place dela Cathedral, the center of Colmar town. We easily found the St. Martin Eglise Cathedral, a Roman Catholic church of Gothic style and one of the main landmarks in Colmar. The old church has an amazing architecture.

The church is surrounded by cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops, hotels and the town's colorful houses.
Wandering the streets of this old town and seeing the colorful French villages was one of the best things to do here. We reached Little Venice, one of the nicest place to visit in Colmar. The colorful houses of this neighborhood are lined at both sides of the Lauch river. The canal-size river can be toured through a boat ride.  We decided to continue our lazy walk, enjoyed taking photos of the beautiful and striking colors of the different establishments, visited some shops and tried the food at different stalls. It was Christmas season, so the place was full of tourists.
Colmar is a lovely place. Flowers of various colors were all over the place. It is like a big, beautiful and colorful garden. I can't help but admired this picturesque town.
At Strasbourg
By one pm, we departed Colmar train station and reached Strasbourg after traveling for half an hour.  We first  stopped at Eglise Saint Thomas Church, then walked the cobble stoned streets lined with the city's colorful houses. The Strasbourg river and the beautiful bridges are few of the many attractions of the city.
We also explored the attractive La Petite France and admired the attractive houses surrounding the canal. It was a wonderful day trip experience.
We stayed until evening and saw how beautiful Strasbourg at night. We returned to Basel before the train's last trip.
Our one day walking tour to Colmar and Strasbourg made me experience a glimpse of France, and made me appreciate its beauty and wonders.

Ours is only a short visit and I know there's a lot more to see. I am hoping to be back to explore more of this enchanting country.

MY BUDGET FRIENDLY TRIPS TO 30 COUNTRIES

Travel is a less important spending priority for me before. It is only ten years after I started working when I had my first overseas travel. Enjoying my first travel experience, my dream of exploring the world did not stop there. As of January 2023, I have been to 30 countries and I can't wait for my next travel adventures. All the unique experiences I had in my previous travels made me thirst for more travel escapades. Every getaway trip, unplanned or mostly planned, made me appreciate life more and made me forget the many negativity of the world. Immersing myself in a new culture, meeting new people and seeing the wonders and diversities of other countries are just few of the rewards I get from traveling. Not all my travel experiences are good, but every trip is worth remembering. Mine, as much as possible, are all budget-friendly trips. I am usually availing of promo airfares and my hotel bookings are mostly in inexpensive accommodations. I plann...

Ugu Bigyan Garden, a must-visit in Tiaong.

Tiaong is a landlocked municipality in the province of Quezon and its borders are the city of San Pablo in Laguna, and the municipalities of Dolores, San Antonio and Candelaria in Quezon. It is not as popular as the other tourist destinations in the Philippines but it has a charm of its own. I am from Tiaong and it will always be my home.  I may not have explored the whole of the town, but this first class municipality, two and a half hour drive from Manila, offers its own authentic tourism to Tiaongins and visitors. Ugu Bigyan Pottery Garden and Restaurant is a must-visit in this town. Nipa and brick-inspired huts This seasoned well-maintained house of the owner is right in front of the entrance gate. The garden owned by the famous potter Mr. Ugu Bigyan in Baranggay Lusacan, in Tiaong, Quezon, a 10-minute drive from the town proper, offers a very relaxing and cozy ambience. A weekend visit to the garden tog...

Lively HONGKONG

Hongkong is my first overseas travel destination. Being the closest country to the Philippines, it is Filipino's favorite getaway place. Having been to HK for twice already, planning the itineraries for a quick DIY tour in my recent trip to the city is not anymore difficult. Cebu pacific has several flights to HK, and the low fares are usually the very early or very late flights.  Flying is not tiring because Manila to HK is only a two-hour flight, and taking a six-am flight last July was not a bad option at all. Prior to our trip, I already availed of the deals and promos of Klook, Traveloka, and Booking.com.  I find these websites/apps very meaningful travel partners. Hongkong is an expensive city so I really appreciate the discounts I get from these apps. Filipinos are not required to obtain visa to enter HK and allowed to stay for 14 days as a tourist. A quick DIY tour is very much possible.  Below is our personalized itiner...
