Dazzling Dubai

Dubai is one of the most visited cities in the world. People from all over the globe flock to Dubai for job opportunities, sightseeing, and leisure. The city is home to skyscrapers, buildings of unique architecture, numerous tourist attractions, multitude of big malls, and has one of the the best entertainment centers in the world for people of all ages.

I have visited the city for several times already. All are short visits, yet every visit is like a first time because Dubai has always something new to offer. I will never get tired of returning to this dazzling city.  Filipinos are required to obtain visa to enter UAE. Filipinos who are working and residing in GCC can apply for evisa.

In my recent visit, I used the bus and the metro system to travel to places. The Nol card (fare card) can be purchased at almost all metro stations, which can be used for metro, buses and taxi. A minimum of 3 dirhams (0.82 dollar or 44 Philippine peso) and a maximum of 7 dirhams (1.90 US dollar or 104 Philippine peso) is charged to the card depending on how short or far your destination is. This is comparatively lower compared to taxi or cab fare. For itinerary that cannot be reached through a bus or metro, I usually find the nearest metro station, then will take a short taxi ride to get to my destination.

I captured Dubai skyscrapers while riding the metro.

Below are some of the itineraries I visited (including the entrance fee).

View of the Palm - Palm Jumeirah

A viewing deck at the 52nd floor of the Palm Jumeirah that offers a 360 view of the city of Dubai, and a whole clear view of the Palm.

Entrance fee - 100 dirhams (1500 Philippine peso or 27 US dollar) during non-prime hours (general admission), 158 dirhams (2350 Php or 43 US dollar) (prime hours).

Transportation: Metro - Tram - Monorail to Nakheel mall.

The Frame

Entrance fee - 50 dirhams

Guiness world record holder for the largest frame in the world, the Frame building standing at 150 meter in Al Karama has a glass skywalk deck. Walking at the glass floor at the 40th floor of the building, and seeing how small the buildings, the cars and people below reminded me of one the games in the famous korean series Squid Game.

Looking down from a glass floor at the 40th floor of the Frame.

Miracle Garden

Entrance fee - 40 dirhams

A garden of natural flowers, Dubai Miracle Garden is also the largest in the world for its kind. The blooming flowers are shaped into different structures like heart, airplane and animals. Who would have thought a garden with natural flowers of different kinds can be found in a sandy desert? Only in Dubai. It is preferable to visit the garden during winter time (November to February).

Dubai Expo / Expo City

Entrance fee - 50 dirhams
The Dubai expo 2020 which opened October 2021 and ended last March 2022 is now transformed into Expo City. Tourists can still have a chance to see a showcase of cultural displays, and each countries innovations and big technological projects. Group according to districts (mobility, sustainability and opportunity), exhibits on culture, technology, business, food and arts are designed based on what district a country belongs. Exhibit on each district pavilion is a must-see before visiting each and every country pavilion. I visited only 6 country pavilions in my one-day visit because a day or two is definitely not enough to visit each country, but good thing, Expo City is still open up to this date to continue my unfinished exploration.

Global Village

Entrance fee - 50 dirhams

The global village Dubai brought all together almost 90 countries in one open park. You can experience different cultures in just one place, taste one country's food and brought home some souvenir items from a country of your choice. Entertainment rides, cultural shows and replica of a country's famous structure can be seen here.

Places you can visit for free or without any entrance fee. There are many places you can visit for free, below are those I personally visit.

Riverland (also called French village)

One of the four villages in Dubai Parks and Resorts. Other villages and attractions in the theme park are Bollywood Dubai, The Legoland, and Motion Gate. Other attractions have entrance fees. Dubai outlet mall is also just near the area.

The Dubai Mall / Burj Khalifa

The Dubai mall is one of the world's famous and most visited malls in Dubai. The largest mall in the planet is home to the Dubai aquarium, Ice Rink and Kidzania. Just beside the mall is the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa.

Ain Dubai

There is actually entrance fee to the observation cabin of the Ain Dubai (Dubai Eye in Eglish). Tickets starts at 130 dirhams. This biggest feris wheel in the world is one of the city's newest attraction. Located in Bluewaters island, the Damac station is the nearest metro station to reach this place. Strolling the vicinity will already provide a relaxing sightseeing experience, and great photo opportunities.

The biggest feris wheel in the world.

Atlantis

The Atlantis is one of Dubai's most luxurious places to stay, but still, one can visit the resort for free. Its shopping galleries are open for everyone. The building facade is also a favorite backdrop for instagrammable photos.

Burj Khalifa
Taking a photo with Burj Khalifa as a backdrop is totally Free. The tallest building in the planet is just near the Dubai mall. There is also a daily fountain show starting from 6 pm.

The tallest building in the world as my background.

Dubai never sleeps. Dubai never stops amazing the world.

Dubai never stops growing. There is more to see and more to explore in this dazzling city.

I can't wait for my next visit. See you again Dubai!

MY BUDGET FRIENDLY TRIPS TO 30 COUNTRIES

Travel is a less important spending priority for me before. It is only ten years after I started working when I had my first overseas travel. Enjoying my first travel experience, my dream of exploring the world did not stop there. As of January 2023, I have been to 30 countries and I can't wait for my next travel adventures. All the unique experiences I had in my previous travels made me thirst for more travel escapades. Every getaway trip, unplanned or mostly planned, made me appreciate life more and made me forget the many negativity of the world. Immersing myself in a new culture, meeting new people and seeing the wonders and diversities of other countries are just few of the rewards I get from traveling. Not all my travel experiences are good, but every trip is worth remembering. Mine, as much as possible, are all budget-friendly trips. I am usually availing of promo airfares and my hotel bookings are mostly in inexpensive accommodations. I plann...

Ugu Bigyan Garden, a must-visit in Tiaong.

Tiaong is a landlocked municipality in the province of Quezon and its borders are the city of San Pablo in Laguna, and the municipalities of Dolores, San Antonio and Candelaria in Quezon. It is not as popular as the other tourist destinations in the Philippines but it has a charm of its own. I am from Tiaong and it will always be my home.  I may not have explored the whole of the town, but this first class municipality, two and a half hour drive from Manila, offers its own authentic tourism to Tiaongins and visitors. Ugu Bigyan Pottery Garden and Restaurant is a must-visit in this town. Nipa and brick-inspired huts This seasoned well-maintained house of the owner is right in front of the entrance gate. The garden owned by the famous potter Mr. Ugu Bigyan in Baranggay Lusacan, in Tiaong, Quezon, a 10-minute drive from the town proper, offers a very relaxing and cozy ambience. A weekend visit to the garden tog...

Lively HONGKONG

Hongkong is my first overseas travel destination. Being the closest country to the Philippines, it is Filipino's favorite getaway place. Having been to HK for twice already, planning the itineraries for a quick DIY tour in my recent trip to the city is not anymore difficult. Cebu pacific has several flights to HK, and the low fares are usually the very early or very late flights.  Flying is not tiring because Manila to HK is only a two-hour flight, and taking a six-am flight last July was not a bad option at all. Prior to our trip, I already availed of the deals and promos of Klook, Traveloka, and Booking.com.  I find these websites/apps very meaningful travel partners. Hongkong is an expensive city so I really appreciate the discounts I get from these apps. Filipinos are not required to obtain visa to enter HK and allowed to stay for 14 days as a tourist. A quick DIY tour is very much possible.  Below is our personalized itiner...
