Tara na sa Villa Escudero!

I am a Tiaongin! I may have traveled to several places, far and nearby, lived at those places temporarily, but Tiaong will always be my Home.

Villa Escudero in my howetown Tiaong, is a must-visit.

This huge plantation is an excellent place for a quick escape from the city. This is a perfect weekend getaway because it is only a two and a half-hour drive from Manila. A private car or a public bus can take you to this place. Take the bus going to Lucena City and alight just after the Welcome to Quezon arch at the boundary of Quezon and Laguna provinces. I have been a guest of the villa for several times already and every visit is always a unique experience. Joining my friends for a day tour last July, the 1500 pesos per guest day pass (approximately 30 US dollars) was all worth the visit.

We all truly enjoyed the kamayan-style buffet lunch in the Labasin dam waterfalls while our feet are soaked in the running water. Such was an incomparable feast of Filipino dishes. The waterfalls provided a great backdrop for our instagrammable photos.

We were also thrilled with the bamboo rafting experience. Our untrained paddles on the still waters of the man-made Labasin dam led us many times to wrong directions, but the experience was so memorable.

We also enjoyed our time at the swimming pool and took delight in their classic halohalo at the poolside while taking a swimming break.

Touring the place while riding a carabao-pulled cart and being serenaded by the hacienda staff was also unforgettable.

Our group can't help but be amazed with the exhibits in their museum.

Life in the countryside was what we experienced in this place.

Want a relaxing rest day? Villa Escudero in Tiaong, Quezon is the place to go.

MY BUDGET FRIENDLY TRIPS TO 30 COUNTRIES

Travel is a less important spending priority for me before. It is only ten years after I started working when I had my first overseas travel. Enjoying my first travel experience, my dream of exploring the world did not stop there. As of January 2023, I have been to 30 countries and I can't wait for my next travel adventures. All the unique experiences I had in my previous travels made me thirst for more travel escapades. Every getaway trip, unplanned or mostly planned, made me appreciate life more and made me forget the many negativity of the world. Immersing myself in a new culture, meeting new people and seeing the wonders and diversities of other countries are just few of the rewards I get from traveling. Not all my travel experiences are good, but every trip is worth remembering. Mine, as much as possible, are all budget-friendly trips. I am usually availing of promo airfares and my hotel bookings are mostly in inexpensive accommodations. I plann...

NEPAL ADVENTURE

My five-day visit to the land of the Himalayas made me enjoy the peaceful and wooded environment of this landlocked country. The country has land borders with India and China and these two countries have visible influences on Nepal’s culture. A country that was never colonized by any other country, the independence and the humbleness of Nepali are undoubtedly evident in their words and actions. Foggy Himalaya mountain ranges at Sanga, Nepal Morning of June 4, we arrived in Kathmandu, the capital and the biggest city of Nepal.  T he city is a valley surrounded by the Himalaya mountains.  The views of the mountains will amaze you from the top once the plane started to descend.   Filipinos traveling to Nepal can obtain visa on arrival. A single-entry visa good for 15 days will cost you $25. Payment counters are accepting certain currencies but better to have US dollars or Nepali Rupees.  The city of Kathmandu is alread...

Ugu Bigyan Garden, a must-visit in Tiaong.

Tiaong is a landlocked municipality in the province of Quezon and its borders are the city of San Pablo in Laguna, and the municipalities of Dolores, San Antonio and Candelaria in Quezon. It is not as popular as the other tourist destinations in the Philippines but it has a charm of its own. I am from Tiaong and it will always be my home.  I may not have explored the whole of the town, but this first class municipality, two and a half hour drive from Manila, offers its own authentic tourism to Tiaongins and visitors. Ugu Bigyan Pottery Garden and Restaurant is a must-visit in this town. Nipa and brick-inspired huts This seasoned well-maintained house of the owner is right in front of the entrance gate. The garden owned by the famous potter Mr. Ugu Bigyan in Baranggay Lusacan, in Tiaong, Quezon, a 10-minute drive from the town proper, offers a very relaxing and cozy ambience. A weekend visit to the garden tog...
